Inside Balloons

Your balloon's favourite environment are:

Please be aware of the following:

Temperature - If your balloon is exposed to too much heat, the helium will expand causing the balloon to pop. When the temperature is very cold it may cause the helium molecules to shrink, reducing the size and float time of the balloon. Foil balloons will noticeably shrink in cold weather - however, they will return to normal as soon as they are back in room temperature.

Sunlight - In addition to the effects of temperature; exposure to sunlight (either direct sunlight or through windows) can cause the balloon to oxidise, becoming cloudy in appearance.

Air conditioning and wind - A constant breeze passing around a balloon will increase the speed at which helium molecules escape through the wall of the balloon, resulting in reduced float time.

Ceilings - Take care if releasing your balloons to float on ceilings; static, chips or cracks in the surface, invisible fibres on ceilings and spotlights can cause balloons to pop.

Sharp Objects - Take Care with your balloons these can be damaged with sharp objects. Bubble Balloons are made of plastic.

FLOAT TIME OF HELIUM FILLED BALLOONS

There are many different factors that affect the float time of helium filled balloons. Foil balloons and bubble balloons have a longer float time than latex balloons. The size of the balloon is also factor (generally, the bigger the balloon, the longer it lasts). In addition, the temperature, and conditions that the balloon is kept in will impact upon the length of the time that it remains floating.

LATEX BALLOONS

Wherever possible, our latex balloons are treated with a non-toxic sealant which coats the inner wall of the balloon. The sealant helps to stop the helium molecules escaping so quickly through the wall of the balloon and therefore significantly increase the balloon's float time. The average float time for a treated 11inch latex balloon is around three days. If untreated, a latex balloon of this size will only float around ten-twelve hours. Larger balloons over 11inches approximately two-four days (depending on size). Confetti - Filled Balloons can reduce the float due to weight of the confetti inside the balloon.

It is important to be aware latex balloons will get smaller with each passing day, as they gradually loose helium.

FOIL BALLOONS (Mylar)

In optimum environments, foil balloons will remain full and taught for three to five days they will usually continue to float for longer but will appear less taut as they start to lose helium. Cool air may cause these balloons to shrivel, but they will return to a normal state where they exposed to warm air.

BUBBLE BALLOONS

Bubble Balloons will remain full and taught for several days and are likely to continue to float for a longer period.

Air-filled Balloons

Air-filled balloons do not float; however, they have the advantage of generally having a longer life. Air-filled balloons can last several days, even weeks, in the right conditions. Please note: All the float times detailed above our average float times and the apply to balloon friendly indoor environments they are not a guarantee and are to be used as a guide only, actual float times will vary depending on temperature and atmospheric conditions.

Balloon Shine

Shine spray products prolong the shine of balloons. Shine spray products revives the shine in latex balloon creations and prevents balloons from becoming oxidised. The Balloon Emporium takes the following precautions when applying balloon shine spray. The Balloon Emporium Ltd Protect floors with sheets before applying product with care. This product makes floors/surfaces VERY slippery and can transfer onto the bottom of footwear.

OUTDOOR BALLOONING

Whilst it's lovely to decorate your outdoor event with balloons, please be aware of how the weather can affect them. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a very calm day, your helium-filled balloons are likely to thrash around in the wind. Air-filled displays are a better option. If the sun is out, it will give the balloons a cloudy/silky appearance. Very hot temperatures can cause the balloons to pop (lighter colours are recommended). Bubble Balloons are a good choice these can withstand the sun, rain, and wind, making them much more reliable for outdoor decor.

DEFECTIVE BALLOONS

Quality checks are performed before you receive your balloons to ensure they will last as long as possible for your enjoyment. High quality balloons are only ever used. In the unlikely event a balloon is defective, the balloon will be replaced at no additional cost providing the following conditions are met:
